Mobility for the Disabled

Driving with a disability is possible, especially with car companies that want to help put people with disabilities back in the driver's seat. Mobility is important to a disabled person which can bring independence and convenience back into their life. Many automobile companies are responding to the mobility needs of people with disabilities.

Ford Motor Company Ford Motor Company started its Ford Mobility Motoring Program in February, 1993and they service 10,000 people with disabilities a year. For more information visit their website at Ford Motor Company or call 1-800-952-2248.

General Motors Corporation General Motors Corporation and its divisions (including Chervrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Cadillac and GMC) started the GM Mobility Program in 1991 to meet the transprtation needs of people with disabilities. Saturn Corporation Sature Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of GM, introduced its Saturn Mobility Program in February, 1994. For more information about their resources for adaptive equipment and special mobility needs visit Saturn Corporation or call 1-800-553-6000.

Toyota Motor Sales Toyota Motor Sales and Lexus, a division of Toyota, offer assistance toward the cost of qualified aftermarket adaptive equipment installed on elegible new Toyota and Lexus vehicles.
